Rotary Club of North Worcestershire donates £250 to county's Sight Concern

Redditch Editorial 17th Feb, 2019

SIGHT Concern Worcestershire has received a £250 donation from The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire to buy new magnifiers to help people with low vision, writes Ryan Smith.

People with low vision are unable to improve their eyesight using glasses so the magnifiers are needed to assist them in day-to-day life.

Sight Concern Worcestershire provides low vision tests and prescribes magnifiers or loans them free of charge to those with the condition.

The charity has received more than 1,000 enquiries asking for specialist advice on issues arising from low vision, such as specialist lighting and accessible public transport.

David Valentine, president of The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire, said members were pleased the donation would help to maximise use of the patients’ remaining vision and help them maintain their independence.
