British Motor Museum in running for major European award

Redditch Editorial 20th Mar, 2019

THE BRITISH Motor Museum has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2019 European Museum of the Year (EMYA) Award.

The Gaydon museum is one of three British museums nominated along with Brunel’s SS Great Britain in Bristol and the D-Day Story at Portsmouth. Last year’s EMYA winner was London’s Design Museum.

The award promotes innovative approaches in the museum sector, particularly focused on the quality of exhibitions and new developments in the sector.

The winner will be announced during the annual conference of the European Museum Forum in Sarajevo on May 25.

British Motor Museums head of collections Tim Bryan said: “The European Museum of the Year showcases 40 of the best museums in Europe. Being shortlisted is recognition of the great work undertaken by the team and the wonderful collections we have here at the Museum”.

A new exhibition – The Car. The Future. Me – exploring futuristic car design will open at the museum on July 13.
