Redditch Editorial 22nd Mar, 2019

THE FIRE service had a busy time in the early hours of this morning after eight car fires in South Worcestershire villages in the space of four hours.

Crews across the county were called out to the incidents which happened in villages near Droitwich, Worcester and Pershore.

The first happened at midnight on the M5 which was attended by a crew from Upton.

Then at 12.34pm a crew from Worcester put out a blaze in a car at Claines.

There were two at Himbleton – one at 1.41am and one at 3.48am.

In between those there was one at Naunton Beauchamp near Pershore at 1.54am, one at Flyford Flavell at 2.02am, one at Tibberton at 2.23am and one at Crowle at 2.32am.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “All the fires were in small cars – it was a very strange situation.

“There does not seem to be any explanation for it.”
