Nurses to offer healthcare support to homeless

Redditch Editorial 8th Jan, 2020

ROUGH sleepers will be provided healthcare support throughout winter after funding was provided for two nurses.

Warwickshire County Council has received more than £30,000 from a government grant to pay for nurses between January and March.

Two nurses from South Warwickshire Foundation Trust have been employed to work with people who are homeless and sleeping rough across the county.

County health spokesman Coun Les Caborn said: “We’re delighted to be awarded this funding to develop a physical health outreach service for people who are homeless and find themselves sleeping rough in Warwickshire. We look forward to further developing our approach to tackling and preventing homelessness.

“This project will compliment the mental health outreach service for people sleeping rough.”
