COVID-19 crisis - People being sought to help with social care in Worcestershire

Redditch Editorial 27th Mar, 2020

PEOPLE who can provide support to the most vulnerable are being sought as part of a social care drive by Worcestershire County Council.

The authority has already received a good response since putting out the plea but more people with good communication skills are needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are roles available in day centres, care homes, residential care settings and visiting people in their homes.

Coun Adrian Hardman, cabinet member with responsibility for adult social care, said: “I want to thank those people who have been in touch already.

“The situation remains unprecedented and our brilliant social care staff are doing a fantastic job.

“As we move forward, we know that our current staff will need help to manage the demand across Worcestershire, and this is where we need your support.

“One thing that has come out of this outbreak, is the desire shown by people to support others and we have a range of roles available for you to help care for those most in need across the county.”

On offer is a paid role that comes with training and the benefits of being a Worcestershire County Council employee.

No prior care experience is needed, just a willingness to help.
