Light fantastic - tribute at the Worcestershire Royal showed our love for the NHS

Redditch Editorial 5th Jun, 2020

A UNIQUE tribute to those on the front line in the battle against the Coronavirus has appeared outside the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The light up ‘LoveNHS’ sign was installed this week in front of the main entrance by staff from county firm Christmas Decorators.

The sign was created and first installed at Liverpool Aintree Hospital four weeks ago. Since then, it has travelled around the country and brought a little light and a smile to 10 hospitals across the UK.

Visitors to the hospital were able to take a peek at the two metre tall letters until Wednesday (June 3) as a thank you to local NHS heroes. The sign then continued its journey via hospitals across the country before its final resting place in Parliament Square.

Paul Chester from Christmas Decorators said: “My wife Ali and I have a lot to be grateful for to the staff at the hospital as they looked after our son, Charlie when he was born nearly two months early in 2018.

“Not only did they give fantastic medical support to enable Charlie to come home as soon as possible but they also gave us both emotional support as we went through this tough time.

“Since then, we have done all we can to support them and selected them as our chosen charity throughout 2019 which included us placing an Easter tree inside the hospital and me conquering my fear of heights and doing a skydive.

“For what they have done for us personally and for what they continue to do for the community and residents of Worcestershire, particularly at this time, we will always be grateful,” he added.
