Leamington's Loft Theatre present David Hare classic Skylight

Redditch Editorial 7th Jan, 2019 Updated: 7th Jan, 2019

POWER, politics and passion are served up in David Hare’s Skylight at Leamington’s Loft Theatre.

On a chilly night in East London, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis (Julie-Ann Randell) receives an unexpected visit first from Edward Sergeant (Ed Statham) and then from his father Tom Sergeant (Mark Crossley).

Tom was once Kyra’s boss and her lover for six years until his wife found out about their affair. In the years following the painful dissolution of the relationship they have pulled away from each other physically, emotionally and ideologically.

Now, three years after his wife’s death, Tom continues to focus on his successful business life while Kyra has turned her back on her previous life, putting all her energy into teaching in a money-starved East End school.

After they have shared the meal that Kyra cooks for them, talk turns to their previous relationship but, given the huge difference in their lifestyles, can they find any common ground?

The production runs from January 23 to February 2.
