Suspected robber charged

A SUSPECTED robber has been charged in connection with a series of knifepoint robberies at shops in Rugby.

Paul Ashford, 31, of Wentworth Road, Rugby, has been remanded in custody to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (October 8).

The robberies happened between September 24 and October 6.

Ashford was arrested following a police appeal. Arresting officer Det Cons Gary Hammond from the Rugby Offender Management Unit said: “I’d like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and provided us with information.”
