Bikers wanted for sixth Rugby Bikefest

Redditch Editorial 20th Feb, 2019

ROARING engines will herald the return of the Rugby Bikefest to the town centre in May.

The festival, organised by Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council in conjunction with local motorcycling groups, will take place between 10am and 4pm on Sunday May 19.

The free family festival – which has become one of the town’s most popular events in the six years it has been running – includes a ‘ride-in’, bike displays, stalls, live music, children’s activities, a funfair and food.

Hundreds of bikes will take part in the ride-in – and bikers are invited to take part.

Rugby First managing director Aftab Gaffar said: “The Bikefest attracts both local people and those from further afield and provides a great shop window for the town centre. Businesses also benefit from the increased footfall and see a significant uplift in takings providing a great boast for the local economy.”

“I would encourage anyone, bike enthusiast or not, to come into the town centre and enjoy a great day out.

“If you are interested in having a stall please get in touch.”

Rugby Borough Council growth and investment spokesman Coun Sebastian Lowe said: “The Bikefest is one of the most popular events held in Rugby and attracts significant visitor numbers into the town centre, as well as providing an enjoyable day out for Rugby residents.”
