Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest Age UK receives new year boost

Redditch Editorial 14th Jan, 2020

THE Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest (BRWF) branch of Age UK has received a new year boost after Care Force Ltd nominated it as its chosen charity for 2020.

The staff decided to support Age UK after sponsoring the Bromsgrove Men In Sheds ‘Shed Share’ scheme back in November.

The group, established by Age UK BRWF four years ago, helps tackle loneliness and isolation in older people.

Some of the cash raised by Care Force will benefit Men in Sheds, with funds also allocated to other charitable services offered by Age UK BRWF.

Among them are the charity’s Information and Advice service and Befriending and Care Call service.

John Hollingsworth, Care Force operations director, said: “When I met some of the ‘Shedders’ last year I recognised the many benefits of this group for its members.

“Age UK works hard locally to help older people in so many ways and we are delighted to offer our support for such a worthwhile charity.”

Jo Hughes, marketing executive of the self-funding Age UK BRWF, said she was really grateful for Care Force Ltd’s support, saying the cash raised would make a real difference to the lives of older people in the area.

“We rely on the support of the community to provide valuable support, services and activities for people aged 50+ living across North Worcestershire.”

Staff at Care Force are now exploring different ways to raise money for the charity.
