Campaign to make sure veterans get extra gifts

Redditch Editorial 2nd Dec, 2020

WORCESTERSHIRE Armed Forces Covenant Partnership is supporting a campaign to ensure World War II veterans receives extra presents this Christmas.

The campaign, led by charity Not Forgotten, will see veterans receive gift boxes to mark the 75th year since the end of the war.

Nearly 3,000 ‘Forget You Not’ gift boxes have already been sent out, but the charity is still searching for some 2,000 veterans in the UK.

County residents are being urged to nominate Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force or Merchant Navy veterans to receive a gift.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for communities, said: “This year was supposed to be a particularly poignant and special year in the Armed Forces Community, giving us the chance to mark the truly remarkable efforts of our veterans.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic has drastically changed our plans.

“The Forget You Not gift box is a fantastic initiative, giving the community a chance to come together and say thank you to our veterans in Worcestershire.

“If you know someone who may be eligible to receive one, please visit the Not Forgotten website.”
