Smart technology to improve lives across Warwickshire

HIGH-tech gadgets are helping improve life for those with health issues across Warwickshire.

Warwickshire County Council has adopted smart technology to make life easier, from automatic pill dispensers to reminder clocks for those who need help staying hydrated.

And for those needing emotional support, ‘companion cats and dolls’ have been created for those with dementia or learning disabilities. They aim to bring back memories or give the experience of caring for a pet or child.

The council says many of the items also help with daily tasks and enable residents to help themselves. They also believe they could reduce reliance on family, friends and carers.

A website called Ask Sara has been launched to find out more about the items.

County council occupational therapist Sinead O’Malley said: “Encouraging our residents to live as independently as possible is one of our key priorities and Ask Sara is a great opportunity for residents to learn about assistive technology tools that support them to remain independent in their homes.”
