Tinkling the ivories in 24-hour pianothon in aid of The Myton Hospices

Redditch Editorial 16th Oct, 2019

PIANISTS will be tinkling the ivories 24 hours straight in aid of Myton Hospice.

The pianothon, organised by Matt Flint from Warwick, takes place at Lillington Free Church on Friday October 25, starting at 8pm.

The 35-year-old was inspired by his son Ethan. The Newburgh Primary School pupil was determined to do something to raise money for the hospice after a talk in an assembly about the charity. The budding actor and his friends put on two productions – The Wizard of Oz and A Midsummer Night’s Dream – which raised more than £2,000.

And now his dad, who works for JLR at Gaydon, will play for 12 straight hours before other pianists complete the final 12 hours.

The pianothon will culminate in a free concert for the final hour from 7pm on the Saturday, but people are welcome to drop in any time during the event to support the players.

There will also be a karaoke on Friday, from 8pm to 10pm, where people can sing their favourite musical theatre song – either bring sheet music or choose from the library available – in return for a donation.
