Quartet maintain good starts to campaign

Redditch Editorial 21st Sep, 2020

FECKENHAM Sunday, AFC Thomas Brothers, Astwood and Headless Cross Lions all extended their unbeaten starts to the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination season on Sunday.

Feckenham are the top scorers in the division with 28 goals in just three games after a 4-1 victory at Beoley Village in which Robbie Davies bagged a brace and Connor Perry-Holmes and George Tolley netted. Sean Meek scored for the hosts.

AFC Thomas Brothers powered to a 12-3 victory over visitors AFC Windmill at Studley Sports & Social Club.

Thomas Brothers were 3-1 up at half-time but shortly after the restart Windmill brought the game back to 3-3.

However, after a few adjustments, Thomas Brothers found their feet again and eased home. Nathan Davies, Sean Parish and Tom Wheatcroft all scored hat-tricks and James Morrall, Craig Clarke and Ollie Parsons were also on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Andy Seager, Louis Brough and Brad Taylor netted for Windmill.

Feckenham and AFC Thomas Brothers remain joint top of the league after the SSS Lions game was postponed due to a VKL United player testing positive for COVID-19.

Redditch United Cross were edged out 4-3 by visitors Redditch Borough, for whom Will Skelton netted a hat-trick and Ethan McKeown also scored. Sam Reeves, Richard Lane and Lee Aldridge struck for Cross.

After scoring four goals the previous week, Wythall Lions continued their prolific ways with another seven in a 7-1 success at Redditch Town.

Sean Bowden scored for the home team but Tom Williams (2), Ciaran Hughes (2), Jack Ward, Josh Attwood and Max Andrews did the damage for Lions.

Astwood remain undefeated after ending the unbeaten run of Studley Lions with a 3-0 home success through goals from Matt Armond, Malek Dhouibi and Cristian Duca.

Headless Cross Lions have netted 16 goals in two matches and are the only team not to concede so far after a 6-0 home win against Frankley United through goals from Jarrell Hepburn (2), Mitchell Sutor (2), Ant McNally and Adrian McNally.
