REDDITCH United Women produced a superb fightback to clinch a penalty shoot-out victory at Shifnal Town’s Acoustafoam Stadium in the Vitality FA Women’s Cup preliminary round.
Despite having most of the possession and chances of their own in the first half, Redditch found themselves 2-0 down at half-time.
However, the Reds rallied in the second half and showed their true colours with goals from Katie Ross-Baker, Bethan Dutton and Jade Guppy.
The drama was not over though and, in the ninth minute of a somewhat baffling amount of added time, Shifnal broke clear to make it 3-3.
There is no extra-time at this stage of the Cup, so the tie went straight to the nail-biting lottery of penalties.
Up stepped Price, Guppy, Ford, Bailey and Jackson and five perfectly-struck penalties followed to secure Redditch’s place in the next round.
