Dom Joly UK tour premiere: Holiday snaps you'll want to see!

Editorial Correspondent 22nd Jan, 2020 Updated: 22nd Jan, 2020

COMEDIAN, broadcaster and travel writer Dom Joly is kicking off his first UK tour since 2011 at Coventry’s Albany Theatre next month.

Probably best known as the creator of Trigger Happy TV, Dom will be sharing his holiday snaps, tales and escapades from his televised and private travel adventures.

Dom Joly’s Holiday Snaps: Travel and Comedy In The Danger Zone is a rip-roaring travelogue featuring stories from his childhood home in the Lebanon – where he went to school with Osama Bin Laden – to North Korea, Chernobyl, the Congo and Cambodia.

This is a rare opportunity to see him live and The Albany is delighted to be hosting its premiere on Thursday February 13 at 7.30pm.

Joly, who took part on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2010, said: “I’ve got this collection of weird holiday snaps and I know there’s that cliché that nobody wants to see anybody else’s holiday snaps. “But my holiday snaps are really good. And they’ve got some really good stories attached to them.”

Having visited some of the most unusual places on the planet he’ll be revealing his anecdotes and exploits as a serial globe-trotter and seeker of dangerous travel spots. Armed with a trusty Powerpoint, fans can expect his holiday snaps to provide a compelling combination of comedy and danger.

From outlandish international stunts for his TV comedy to curious snaps from his excursions, he will be sharing his uncensored travel tales from the dark side.

Joly’s tour also coincides with the impending paperback publication of his new book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club, in which a boozy, cricket-filled afternoon at Lord’s led Joly and two pals to hike across the Lebanon, from the Israeli border to the Syrian border.

Tickets for this event are available from the theatre for £19. The tour also includes Solihull’s Core Theatre on Thursday February 20.
