THERE was much ado about quite a lot when ten budding bards took to the stage at Mary Arden’s Farm in Wilmcote.
The young players performed a Shakespearean monologue to mark the 460th anniversary of the playwright’s birth.
The event was the culmination of the Independent Schools Association’s 2024 Shakespeare Monologue Competition and was held at the childhood home of the bard’s mother.
The pupils, who ranged in age from seven to 18, earned their leading roles from an initial 178 entries, which were judged and chosen by Charlotte Scott of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
Marie-Ange Moncuy, national arts officer of the Independent Schools Association, said: “These talented pupils not only enjoyed the honour of performing in this unique venue but also partook in a tour of the working, sustainably operated farm and immersive workshop sessions with the acclaimed learning team from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.”
