Elderly charity for Bromsgrove and Redditch visits pupils at Beoley First School

Redditch Editorial 21st Apr, 2019

YEAR 4 pupils at Beoley First School played host to a group of local elderly people last week to enhance one of the school’s core values – participation.

The occasion, with the Contact the Elderly charity for Bromsgrove and Redditch, saw pupils organise a tea party for their visitors, which included baking cakes for their guests, and then sitting down and getting to know them.

The tea parties are to be held once a month and will benefit all involved as the children will be encouraged to engage with and learn from the older generation.

Deputy Headteacher Katie Sweeney said: “We are extremely proud of our Year 4 pupils who have been keen to organise this event.

“While developing strong links with the community, our pupils are developing their communication skills and also learning about the past, something that is vital in shaping their futures.”
