Home sought for abused dog which hid in toilet after being abandoned

Redditch Editorial 22nd Jan, 2020 Updated: 22nd Jan, 2020

A DOG found hiding in a toilet after being abandoned in Stratford is looking for a home.

A search and rescue team including police officers looked for the four-year-old Lurcher after he darted out in front of traffic on Evesham Road in November.

But it was not until the following day the dog, named Larry, was found hiding in a portable toilet, and was in such bad condition he would not have survived the night.

Charity Dogbus, which has been caring for Larry, believes he had been abandoned by people stopping in the area.

Emily Allen, who was part of the search and now volunteers for the charity, said: “He was limping badly and unable to walk. He was also severely underweight and had a nasty infection which led to him fitting. Another night in the cold and the vet said he would not have made it.”

Now Dogbus – which is based in Coventry – is looking for a home for ‘lovable’ Larry, who is good with children over the age of eight, but any potential family must have no other pets.

The charity – which relies solely on donations – rescues dogs not only from the UK but also from freezing conditions in Romania and those destined for death as part of the Chinese dog meat trade.

Anyone interested in rehoming Larry or any of the charity’s dogs can visit its Facebook page ‘Dogbus Transporting Paw, Saving Lives’ or call founder Kris on 07943 040970.
