'Pharma Army' clocks up 3,000 miles delivering prescriptions

Redditch Editorial 20th Jun, 2020

A ‘PHARMA ARMY’ of volunteers have clocked up 3,000 miles delivering prescriptions across Kenilworth and Coventry.

When lockdown was announced in March, 11 members of Kenilworth Lions began delivering tablets to housebound residents.

And since then they have travelled more than 3,000 miles delivering some 2,500 prescriptions across Kenilworth, South Coventry, Burton Green, Leek Wootton, Ashow and Stoneleigh.

A team spokesman said: “Members of the Pharmy Army, all wearing bright yellow Lions tabards, have become a familiar and welcome sight around the area during lockdown. The service has been greatly appreciated by local residents.

“The Lions Clubs International motto is “We Serve”. What better way to demonstrate this commitment when the local community needs it most?”
