Rail strikes to disrupt travel across the county

Redditch Editorial 17th Jun, 2022

STRIKES across several train companies including West Midlands Railway next week will seriously disrupt travel arrangements of people across Worcestershire.

Residents travelling to Bromsgrove and Redditch from Lichfield Trent Valley can expect two trains per hour between Tuesday and Saturday, with normal services resuming on Sunday after a later start-up.

Bromsgrove will alternate with Redditch as a station at the end of the line.

There will also be no trains to Bromsgrove via the Birmingham New Street to Hereford line between Tuesday and Saturday, with minor amendments to the service on Monday.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) will be imposing action on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week, impacting the number of trains that can run.

A limited service will be running between 7:30am and 6:30pm, while the knock-on impact of the strike will see Wednesday’s and Friday’s train times affected.

West Midlands Railway said that people should only travel during this time if the journey is essential and no other means of transport is available.

Passenger assistance will still be available on the services that are still running.
