STUDENTS put Solihull’s election candidates through their paces at a Question Time-style event.
Ahead of the voters going to the polls on December 12 four Solihull constituency candidates took part in a debate at Solihull School.
Labour’s Nick Stephens, Liberal Democrat Ade Adeyomo, Green Party candidate Rosemary Sexton and Conservative Julian Knight, who is hoping to retain his seat, spoke about Brexit, the NHS, crime and the economy during the event.
The event saw questions come from Solihull School pupils as well as Saint Martin’s and Solihull Sixth Form College pupils.
Solihull School pupils are holding their own election campaign within the school, with students teaming up with their respective party candidates for the question and answer session.
Results of the school’s election will be announced following voting on December 12.
Solihull School’s head of history and politics Gareth Affleck said: “This was a great opportunity for the students to engage with the political process.
“There were certainly some tricky questions posed to the candidates over a wide range of topics and it will hopefully help the students to make more informed decisions concerning their futures.”
