Teenager celebrates big lottery win with first ever lottery ticket

Redditch Editorial 20th Aug, 2019 Updated: 20th Aug, 2019

IT was first time very lucky for a teenager from Leamington.

Sam Lawton bought his first ever lottery ticket and scooped £10,000 a month for the next year in the Set For Life draw.

The 19-year-old data analyst, whose single Lucky Dip ticket matched five numbers on the draw on Monday August 12, said he couldn’t believe his luck when he checked his ticket.

He said: “It was only maybe 90 minutes after I first played when I saw a message on my phone and it said I had won the second prize, – £10,000 per month for 12 months.

“Having never played before I asked my partner Connie to take a look. But like me, she had never played before so we called her brother Craig who has been playing The National Lottery for years. I sent him a screen grab of my phone screen and he said ‘on my way, don’t move’ and within five minutes he was at the front door.

“We all checked the tickets and sat there in disbelief wondering if it was true. It was a sleepless night and then I got up and went to work as usual at 8am.”

Sam and Connie, who have a one-year-old son, celebrated the win with friends and family and thought about how they will spend the money. At the top of the couple’s bucket list is a deposit on a new home and a trip to New York.
