Urgent search underway for missing Coventry pensioner with links to Rugby

Redditch Editorial 9th Jan, 2020 Updated: 9th Jan, 2020

AN URGENT search is underway for a Coventry pensioner whose family woke on Monday (January 6) to find he had gone missing.

Brian Hicks, 83, was last heard at his home in Keresley at around 11.30pm on Sunday (January 5).

Police believe he may be in the Rugby area where he grew up.

He is believed to have left home in his dark grey Vauxhall Viva, registration BP16 YFV.

His car activated an automatic number plate recognition camera just before 1am on Monday morning, on the A426 in Rugby off junction 1 of the M6.

Brian often travels to Rugby using back roads via Bretford and Binley.

Brian is white, 5ft 9in, of medium build, with receding grey hair, and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a brown zip-up jumper, black tracksuit bottoms, a grey vest and black shoes.

Police are very concerned about Brian’s welfare as it is out of character for him to be away from home for so long, and may have become confused and disorientated.

Anyone with information – including sightings of any parked cars which match the description of Brian’s car – is asked to call police on 999.
