Borough invest in youth as club grows

Redditch Editorial 2nd Jun, 2020 Updated: 2nd Jun, 2020

RUGBY Borough Football Club has launched a Youth Development Programme to encourage young people to help run the football club and sustain its future.

The programme – open to 14 to 18-year-olds – enables successful candidates to obtain qualifications such as referee, FA level one, first aid, welfare, grounds maintenance, media, mentoring, administration, health and well-being, food and hygiene and managing a facility.

Brian Crinigan, the programme organiser, said: “Rugby Borough Football Club are looking to the future and investing in young people to take the club forward and continue to make it sustainable for years to come.

“The club has again seen significant growth within its teams with an additional nine being affiliated for season 2020/21 – taking the total to 72.

“We as a committee see there is value in investing in this programme and the people who join it. We did run a similar project last year with level one and referee courses but we are expanding it over a two-year period with more to offer and a selection of topics which applicants have a choice to do.

“We are looking for ten candidates to enroll on this programme.”

The application process can be found on the club’s website, Twitter and Facebook pages or by sending an email to [email protected].

Applications open on June 4 and close on June 30. Applicants will then be invited to attend a webinar or one-to-one meeting and discuss their ideas.

Successful applicants will then be informed, with the programme starting on September 1.
