Brothers are lapping up success

Redditch Editorial 25th Feb, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016

THERE has been plenty to celebrate for Walkwood siblings Josh and Finnan Robins who are continuing to show their athletics prowess.

The Walkwood Middle School duo are both district schools champions in their respective age groups and are preparing to compete for their county on March 11.

The brothers, who represent Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club, were recently in action in the final fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes’ Cross Country League at Perry Barr in Birmingham where 12-year-old Josh finished sixth in the under 13 boys’ race and won a medal as he came fifth overall in the series.

Nine-year-old Finnan finished seventh in the under 11 boys’ race and ended in the same position overall as he just missed out on a medal.

The young aces have made remarkable progress as both have only been running for about a year and Finnan is unbeaten in school cross country since first school.

Since running for B&R over the past year, Josh is a record holder for the mile in his age group and broke the school district 800m record.
