Champions Redditch Entaco finish season with defeat

REDDITCH Entaco ended a title-winning season in a disappointing fashion after going down to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Bromyard.

The Worcestershire League Division Two champions were put into bat after losing the toss but only three batters reached doubles figures as they were swept aside for just 109 in the 24th over.

Russell Southwick top-scored with 25 off 37 balls, and Rizwan Mohammad Choudry hit 17 and they were 58-1 at one point, before the innings subsided disastrously.

Sam Egan (20) was the only other batsman to halt the collapse.




Greg Leighton was the destroyer-in-chief, taking 8-52 in his 12 overs, and then led home the Bromyard batting with an unbeaten 49 off 32 balls. Victory was guaranteed at the end of 16 overs.

The Seconds completed their season away at relegated Belbroughton with a winning draw.


Batting first Redditch piled on the runs as Nick Fowkes scored 118 not out, Asif Mukhtar 88 not out and 60 from Aaron Tozer to finish on 308-2.

In reply Belbroughton could only muster 149-9 in 50 overs.Aleem Shahid taking three wickets.

Redditch finished third behind winners Worcester Nomads and Stourport.
