Clinical finishing proves the difference as Millers are beaten

Redditch Editorial 22nd Dec, 2016

FECKENHAM huffed and puffed but could not find a way through a determined Barnt Green Spartak defence as they suffered a 3-0 home defeat in Midland League Division Two on Saturday.

The Millers created chances at the Entaco but the visitors showed them how to finish, with Kevon Henry, Aldin Kahriman and new signing Nathan Stoute all netting.

Feckenham had started brightly with Adam Garmson going close from 23 yards and Danny Murphy heading over from a Ben Cox set piece.

The hosts continued to be a threat with Cox having a low shot well saved and Murphy also being denied.

However, against the run of play Barnt Green took the lead through a deflected 25-yarder which looped over keeper Josh Goddard.

The second half followed a similar pattern but Barnt Green’s defence continued to be well marshalled.

Jack Brimmell and Cox were thwarted by a brilliant block and a superb save before Spartak grabbed a second goal with another strike from outside the box.

Again Feckenham pressed, with Murphy the next to be denied by the keeper.

Once again though Barnt Green showed them how to finish with a swift counter-attack, the ball moving from left to right and back before a composed finish sealed Spartak’s first win in nine matches.

Despite the defeat and a very frustrating afternoon, a mention must go to 16-year-old central midfielder Sid Hicks who was introduced in the second half and marked his debut with a very solid performance.

Feckenham will look to bounce back on Boxing Day when they entertain Redditch Borough (2pm).
