ALVECHURCH were beaten 3-0 by new league leaders Coalville Town on Tuesday night in the club’s penultimate home game of the season.
Church fell behind to Billy Kee’s opener on the stroke of half time before Luke Shaw and Herve Pepe-Ngoma scored second-half goals to a seal a crucial victory for the title contenders at Lye Meadow.
The result means Alvechurch sit 12th in the Southern League Premier Central table with two matches left to play.
Former Football League striker Kee broke the deadlock on 45 minutes when his shot proved too powerful for Church goalkeeper Dan Jezeph who could only palm the ball into the net.
And Shaw doubled Coalville’s lead on 54 minutes when he drove the ball into the bottom right corner after Adel Alabi inadvertently headed the ball into the scorer’s path.
The visitors sealed the points on 73 minutes as Pepe-Ngoma rose above Jezeph to head into an empty net after Church could only clear a cross high into the air.
Alvechurch are next in action at home to Royston Town TONIGHT (Thursday, April 20) with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
