Redditch Editorial 9th Jun, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016

ASTWOOD Bank are up to third in Birmingham League Division Three after an 81-run victory at Brewood on Saturday.

Tom Pedley (67) and Ryan Blakemore (59) starred with the bat as the visitors posted 264-7 off their 50 overs.

Dan Taylor then took 4-42 and Andrzej Jagielski 3-42 as Brewood could only muster 183 in reply, leaving Bank with 24 points.

Steve Adshead’s side have a fine chance to maintain their momentum on Saturday when they visit a Whitchurch side still seeking a first win of the campaign.

HARIS Ali took four wickets off three overs without conceding a run as Bank 2nds defeated visitors Oswestry by 67 runs in Division One 2nd XI.

Tom Shepherd also chipped in with 3-36 as the visitors were dismissed for 106 in reply to Bank’s 173, in which opener Chris Hancox top scored with 36.

BANK 3rds were 17-run winners over visitors Hanley Castle & Upton in Division Four.

After losing some early wickets, Bank recovered through Andy Clayton and Paul Baker who put on a stand of 98 before Baker fell two short of his 50.

James Boycott then joined Clayton and they added a further 46 until Clayton perished for a well made 70 including three sixes.

Boycott also hit two sixes as he also fell just short of a well deserved half century when he was stumped on 49, but some lower order hitting ensured Bank posted a competitive 228-7 off their 50 overs.

In reply the hosts held their nerve as Jamie Harland took 4-47 and George Haslam and Dennis Freeman two wickets apiece to restrict the visitors to 211 all out.

BANK 4ths were thumping 141-run victors over Hanley Castle & Upton in Division Four 2nd XI.

The star of the show was opener Jim Prescott who made 136 in Bank’s 287-5 and the hosts had no answer in reply as Ed Johnson (3-33), Tom Prescott (2-35) and Flynn Duggan (2-3) dismissed them for 146.

THERE was a 53-run victory for Bank in their Worcestershire Sunday League Division One South T20 game at home to Barnt Green.

Opener Tom Underhill made 40 and Andrzej Jagielski 36 as the hosts made 138 all out off 19.5 overs and in reply Green were dismissed for 85 as Jake Price claimed 3-22 off his four overs.
