FORMER Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has joined Redditch United and is in line to make his debut at home to Stratford Town in the Southern League Premier Division tonight (Tuesday).

Hendrie, who enjoyed a previous spell at the Valley Stadium in 2012, has been playing for Midland League Division Three promotion-chasers Montpellier and has scored seven goals in 11 appearances this season.

Birmingham-born Hendrie started his career at Villa where he spent 14 years and also played for England U21s and earned one full cap for England in 1998.

Lee’s brother, winger Stuart, has also played for the Reds and their father Paul has managed the club.

Darren Byfield’s United go into the match in seventh place, having taken seven points from their past three matches including Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chesham United.
