Girls show they can kick it

Redditch Editorial 24th Jan, 2017 Updated: 24th Jan, 2017

GIRLS’ football took centre stage at Redditch United’s Trico Stadium when the This Girl Kicks Cup U15 county competition continued.

The Pool B event was keenly contested and saw South Bromsgrove High School take top spot on the day ahead of runners-up Tewkesbury School and third placed Nunnery Wood High School (Worcester).

The This Girl Kicks Cup – which runs at each age group from U12 to U16 – sees the top two finishers from each pool go on to contest the Championship finals, whilst the third and fourth placed teams move on to the Plate competition.

Among those looking on was Redditch United Ladies’ American ace Mckenzie Karas who met the players, including several from the Reds’ U15s Girls side.

Redditch United Ladies manager and This Girl Kicks founder Gary Barrell said: “Once again we saw proof of the girls’ football talent that we have in Redditch and the county and thanks go to Redditch United for kindly hosting the event free of charge.”
