Kingfishers are ready to rumble

Redditch Editorial 7th Aug, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016

OPTIMISM is high at Redditch Rugby Club ahead of the new Midlands Four West (South) season.

There have been a number of changes made by the Kingfishers during the close season, with the most significant being the appointment of new head coach James Shotbolt.

As a result of this, there is a bit of a buzz around the club with a fresh approach to training, higher attendances and new players joining the club.

On Tuesday evening Redditch also had the company of guest coach Max Stelling, the Worcester Warriors centre and England U20 player, who provided a backs masterclass session, whilst the forwards were put through their paces by Shotbolt.

Senior men’s training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at Redditch Cricket, Hockey & Rugby Club on Bromsgrove Road. All abilities are welcome and the first fixture of the season is a friendly against local rivals Woodrush on Saturday, August 16.

Lee Williams was on hand to take some pictures of Tuesday’s training session.
