Shock as new signing Beasley leaves Alvechurch

IAN LONG admitted he was disappointed and baffled after new signing Sam Beasley left Alvechurch after a single appearance.

Midfielder Beasley only made his debut in Tuesday’s win against Westfields but has now returned to Lye Town.

He told Long that he wanted to play regular football, although the manager says he made it clear from their first conversation that rotation of his squad was a key element of Alvechurch’s push for success in league and cups.

“I’m disappointed Sam has left and a little bit surprised,” said Long.

“I’m totally honest when I bring in players and he knew how we work. I know his dad, Dave, who was my assistant at Rushall, and Sam knows Josh March, who was a team-mate at Causeway last year, so he knew the situation.

“We have a squad and we use them all and I believe what we do is the right way. I think the success we’ve had proves that.”

Alvechurch, however, have Dave Bellis, Ryan Winwood and Sam Williams vying for midfield roles so Long sees no need to move into the transfer market for another midfielder at the moment.
