RIZWAN CHOUDRY’S magnificent hundred propelled Redditch Entaco to a 117-run victory over Feckenham as the Kingfishers won the Canterbury Cup Plate at Kidderminster CC on Sunday.
Redditch won the toss and elected to bat and made a massive 246-4 off their 20 overs as Choudry smashed 110 off just 51 balls including 11 fours and eight sixes.
He was ably supported by Greg Chinn (36 off 16 balls) and Tom Field (53 not out in 27 balls) as they sent the Feckenham bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Feckenham were never in the hunt during the chase and limped to 129-8 in reply.
The triumph capped a superb weekend for the Kingfishers following Saturday’s clinching of the Worcestershire League Division Two title with a four-wicket victory at Wormelow.
A match reduced to 25 overs per side saw the Kingfishers restrict the home side to 105-8 as Tom Phelan led the way with 4-16 and young Olly Mason took three excellent catches on his first team debut.
In reply Redditch started well but a cluster of wickets saw the home side bounce back until Rizwan Choudry (40) and Field (15no) steadied the ship.
The Kingfishers eventually strolled home with 3.4 overs to spare to claim their first title in 16 years.
Redditch finish the season at home to Bromyard on Saturday.
The 2nds end their Division 2nd XI campaign at Belbroughton on Saturday, looking to cement third spot.
Saturday’s home fixture against Pedmore was abandoned due to rain. After a start delayed until 3pm, the match was reduced to 34 overs per side and Redditch managed 192-2 off 32 with skipper Geoff Eley making 124 not out – his 28th century for the club – until the rain came.
